Not really .. still paints the same picture. Mills is struggling to find a way to even get basic concepts across. The players aren't responding to his coaching. He's not doing a good job at it, but he's going to keep trying to do the same thing he's done all year that hasn't worked so far.

When I hear talk about “ shaking things up”, I’m reminded that no matter how much makeup you put on a pig, it’s still a pig

I suppose we could have looked better despite no change in W/L record. I don't recall as I was just ready for that era to be over.

I can see how you could reach that, but to me when he says we are messing up the basics and we’ve got to go back and address that, it sounds he is talking about not continuing on the same way like you think he is but actually going back and addressing some foundational issues and fixing them. Idk tho, I could be completely unreasonable for that.

He proved he was dangerous doing it the 2nd half of last season but he just doesn't fit well into Mills' offense and seldom gets a good entry pass even when he is in good position. Not KP's fault !
If he doesn't fit well into Mills' offense you can't expect it him to change it for one guy. Especially when trying to build a culture in Y1.

One could argue that nobody fits into Mills' offense considering how little of it we actually see.

How many more L's before something gives? Let KP, IA, BC, Joy and JG start a game or run a full game like scrimmage to figure out some things Does anyone think team #1 would win very big, if at all, against team #2?

Maybe we're looking at this all wrong with Mills' offense and who fits in to make it all work. The key is maybe Max Abmas.

I think the key is a great scoring and creating guard surrounded by shooters.

In the midst of a five-game losing streak, WSU head coach Paul Mills sees “so much room for growth” from the Shockers.

This is going to immediately start a debate and get some hate, but could almost say the same about Marshall and FVV. It’s not the same. Obviously. But some people could argue that.

Honestly, I think with Mills, he’s expecting players to have better fundamentals than the guys we have. What he’s saying is hard to train out of players, like jumping on fakes, etc. He’s fighting against instincts that have been formed across years and years of basketball, while trying to install a new offense and defense and everything.

The more I watch our team and see us miss completely open shots, the more I sympathize with Mills. I find it difficult to believe he’s not trying to correct the back cut issue that is a free bucket multiple times every game for the opposition. But again, instincts in the players or they’re straight up just bad. Who knows.

Part of the problem though is when he was hired he talked about tailoring his offense to the personnel he had and not married into one set system of thinking.

I think he might’ve said that before he had a real idea of what he was working with. It’s not the offense. Just watching replays, our players can’t even keep a ball in their hands. It’s the fundamental skills they’re lacking.

Now I can 100% blame him for banking too hard on Abmas and not getting a better PG in place than even Cortes.

Remember a few games back when Coach said, (paraphrasing) that the staff would have to go back to the players and explain to them how important it was to guard the guy shooting the ball
